I'm excited about finding this little gem. I guess there's a yearly conference. The more I know the more I don't know...

Picking up momentum
I find it fascinating that the Free school movement is picking up momentum at the same time my interest in it is. I hope the trend continues.

After six months in a Montessori school
My goal is
To continue educating myself about democratic education.
My inspiration is
http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/424/kid-politics
My idea is a free school with the attention to the learning environment that a Montessori school gives. I am interested to see how Brooklyn Free School does with the "no screens rule" gone. I noticed a lot of screen time while I was in Denver. I'm interested to hear how many hours the students at the school here in Chicago spend. I think its important for adults to explain that gaming can be an addiction. I think there can be a balance between those if the free school movement call coercion and what a Montessorian calls guidance.
